Pardon me, is this phone booth taken??

Isn't it Superman that would change in the phone booth?

I think so, so were going with that.....

I wish they had phone booths around because I'm getting a little tired of changing in "the beast"!!

On days like today I really feel like I should wear this S on my chest or at least a women on a mission don't you dare pull out in front of me only going 25 in a 45 lane, sign :)

Don't we all have these days?

It just seems as my kids get older my mission (if I choose to except it) gets longer and harder.

Today I went to work, let me just stop right there.....I have to go somewhere else for a minute!!

I'm a preschool teacher. I work with 3 year olds, 3 days a week. Your thinking oh what is she complaining for, well lets see in the past 2 weeks, which is 6 days of work. Well actually only 5 because my daughter was sick one day this week (and I kept her home from school, BECAUSE SHE WAS SICK!! ) do you see where this might be going??

I'm rambling yes I know, for the bible tells me so. ...WHAT, I don't know.

Oh yes, people, kids, sick, MAD!

In the past 2 weeks I have been snotted on, puked on and peed at. Yes I know being peed at, has nothing to do with a sick child, but still it was a funny story. Let's just say little boys can't not pee and talk at the same time :)

One of my kids in my class, threw up on me last week, oh yes he did. In my hands, on my shoes, ON ME! After I got this child all cleaned up and ready to take him to the office to call his mom, do you know what he says to me? Do you really want to know what he said to me. He says to me Ms. Heidi, when I got sick LAST NIGHT my mommy told me it was just the junk in my belly. The junk in his belly is now on my cute shoes that I have to throw away!!

People please don't think that we are stupid enough to fall for, oh well he/she wasn't running that 103 fever when they woke up this morning, yea right! Because little he/she just told me that the medicine you gave them this morning tasted like grape!

Kids talk and they tell us pretty much EVERYTHING!

We hear about who potties the most in the house. About the words that mommy says when she gets the man with the police hat on, behind her.

All that fun stuff, we hear it all.

Please people when your kids are sick LEAVE THEM AT HOME!

And don't even give me, well I can't stay home from work because BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

That crap doesn't fly with me, I don't get paid to hold and rock YOUR sick child all day.

I get paid to TEACH YOUR child!

Enough said on that......

Now back to the story, what was my story?

Oh yes, phone booth, superman, mission.

So today I get off of work, go over to Chick Fil A, order Alex's nugget tray for his birthday party tonight. Head over to Hannah and Jakob's school to help do reindeer shirts for the holiday party next week. 1 1/2 hours later bring the 2 little ones home with me after school, come home start baking Alex's brownies for his party tonight. Get Alex off his bus. Try and straighten my house up, because Alex's has a few friends coming home with us for a little bit after his party. Run back out to pick up some fruit and cheese and then the chicken tray. Get back home with 15 minutes left until we have to leave, to get the kids changed, feed the dogs, let the dogs out, put the fruit and cheese in bowls, pack up the brownies, get the batteries for the camera back in the camera. Greet 2 friends at the door as their being dropped off to ride with us to the party.

Also in the middle of all this washing, paying bills, getting things packed for our 6:30 departure tomorrow morning for Alex and Hannah's swim meet.

All of this in a span of 3 hours......

And do you know what I got out of all of this?

"Mom this really was the COOLEST party EVER!! THANK YOU!!"

I would do it all over again just to see his smile :):)

Have a great weekend!!

I am so, so sorry you were the recipient of such a "lovely" gift. I can remember being on the working side with 2 small children in daycare and being written up for calling in sick 6 times in a one year period. So I can sympathize with the people who work, although not so much if it's a 3 day a week preschool rather than a daycare. Nevertheless, if your kid is puking your kid needs to stay home!

Oh, I've been there. In fact, I pride myself on only having jobs (prior to my business that is) where I was privy to explosive bodily fluids on a daily basis. (Nursing assistant, day care "teacher", registered nurse, and MOM)

I think so many people can't stay home, or maybe won't stay home. Maybe they're afraid of losing their job? They deny deny deny, the flushed cheeks, the "my tummy hurts", the sore throat. Then you get to take care of it. Like the world would end if they missed a day of preschool or a day of work! (maybe it would?)

Sad. Sad. Sad. When our kids are not our first priority. And I say that, meaning if bosses are not understanding, companies not understanding, that life happens.

Thankfully, YOU are the mom that puts them right where they should be: FIRST.

Great Mom Award of Dec. 13th goes to... Mrs. Johnson! We only have one chick-fil-a relatively near us (1/2 hour drive). I bet my weight watchers scale would go off the charts after a trip there!

Well done. And thanks for offering love to that sick little one. How sad that they had to be in your arms and not their mommy's.
